    About Brick Column Fencing

North Alabama's Best Brick Column Fence Company

Some fences mark a line. Brick column fences make a statement.

The columns carry weight. They anchor entries, gate systems, and fence panels in a way no wooden post buried in Alabama clay ever will. Done right, they hold their shape for decades and add real value to what a property is worth.

We are a local crew based in Huntsville. Not a franchise. Not a national company routing calls to whoever picks up the phone. We know North Alabama soil. We know what a properly footed masonry column looks like ten winters from now. That is what we build.

    Local Expertise

Huntsville AL Brick Column Fence Built for This Ground

North Alabama clay is not forgiving.

It holds water after a hard rain. It shifts through freeze and thaw cycles. A footer that holds fine in sandy soil will move here. And when a footer moves, the column moves. Once a brick column starts to lean, it does not straighten back out. The whole thing comes out and starts over.

We walk every property before we quote it. We note grade changes, drainage paths, and soil conditions before a single brick goes down. That prep work is what keeps a column plumb a decade from now. Not luck. Not guesswork. Planning.

    Reliable in North AL

A Reliable Brick Column Fence Builder North Alabama Homeowners Call Back

We do not subcontract jobs out. The crew that quotes your fence builds it.

New column installs. Full yard perimeters with brick entry columns. Driveway gate systems built around masonry pillars. HOA entries and estate-style builds. We serve Huntsville, Madison, and communities across North Alabama. Every project gets the same standard regardless of scope.

That is not something you get from a company that barely knows the zip code.

    Brick and Wood Combinations

Brick Columns With Wood Fence. The Combination That Holds.

It is one of the most requested builds we do in Huntsville. And the reason is simple.

The columns carry the structural load. Set in concrete with a proper footer, they anchor the fence line without relying on a wood post buried in shifting clay every eight feet. The wood panels attach to the columns and handle the privacy.

The result looks permanent. Because it is.

Board style, height, stain or paint. All of that gets sorted before anything goes into the ground. No surprises on install day.

    Pricing

How Much Does a Brick Column Fence Cost in Huntsville

More than a standard post fence. Less than replacing that post fence every fifteen years.

Installed cost in the Huntsville area depends on column height, column count, footer depth, cap style, and whether wood or metal panels run between columns. Grade changes and soil conditions affect how much footer work is required.

We come out, walk it, and hand you a written number before we leave. No vague ranges. No line items added after the fact. The quote is the price.

If anyone is in need of fence work, these guys were incredibly responsive. I contacted them one evening, had a reviewer out next day, final quote a day later, and installing day after. Price was just a few hundred over a non-US person ($5,500 instead of $5,200), and they are all American (gave me a W9 for their Scorp) and talented. They even made a few recommendations, all of which I gladly accepted. They know their craft.

Huntsville Residential Fencing installed a vinyl fence for us. Their quality of work is outstanding. They installed the fence in a couple of days, we thought it would take much longer. We asked about warranties on the work and they provided extensive information regarding material and workmanship warranties. They’re the gold standard for your fencing needs.

    FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Brick Column Fencing

How long do brick column fences last?

A properly built brick column fence lasts 40 to 50 years or longer. The brick needs almost no upkeep. What shortens the lifespan is a bad footer. Shallow footers move with the soil, and when the footer moves, the column moves. Build the foundation right and the column holds for decades.

Do I need a permit for brick column fencing in Huntsville?

In most cases, yes. Requirements depend on fence height and whether the property sits inside city limits or under Madison County jurisdiction. HOA communities add their own approval layer on top. We handle all of it. You do not track down forms or sit on hold with the county office. That is our job on every project.

Can brick columns be added to an existing fence?

Yes. We add brick columns to existing fence lines regularly. It is one of the most affordable ways to upgrade a property without tearing out what is already there. Existing panels attach to the new columns once footers are poured and the brick is set.

What type of brick works best for fence columns?

Standard modular brick is the most common choice for residential fence columns in North Alabama. It comes in multiple colors and textures and can be matched to an existing home exterior. We walk through brick options during the estimate visit so you can see how the finished column looks before anything gets ordered.

How deep do the footers need to be for brick columns?

Deeper than the minimum code requires. North Alabama clay expands and contracts with seasonal moisture. Footers that sit too shallow move. That movement is slow at first but compounds over time. We pour footers to a depth that accounts for local soil behavior, not just what passes inspection.

Can brick columns support a driveway gate?

Yes, when the column is built for it. Gate weight drives column width and footer size. A column that was not designed to carry gate hardware will show stress over time. We plan column dimensions around the gate specs before any brick goes down. That planning happens at the start, not after the fact.

How wide should brick fence columns be?

It depends on fence height, panel weight, and whether the column carries a gate. Taller fences and heavier panels need wider columns to stay proportionate and structurally sound. A column that looks too narrow for the fence it is holding will show it in the look and eventually in the lean. We spec the right width during the property walk.

Do brick columns work with chain link fencing?

Yes. Brick columns with chain link fabric between them is a practical setup for side yards, pool perimeters, and commercial properties that want a finished look at entry points without the cost of a full masonry fence. The columns provide a permanent anchor. The chain link handles the security work.

Is a brick column fence worth the investment?

For homeowners staying long term, yes. Brick columns outlast wood posts by decades, require almost no maintenance, and add to resale value in a way that pressure-treated lumber does not. The upfront cost is higher. The ten and twenty year cost is lower. That math usually closes itself.
